Preschool Graduation

Jacob's last day of preschool was Wednesday, and today we finished up with a little graduation ceremony at the school, and then a celebration at Timbertown. Jacob declared it "the BEST day of my life!" This is something I have grown used to hearing when something he is looking forward to finally arrives.

Here is Jacob receiving his preschool "diploma" from Mrs. Reitzel. She has been such a wonderful teacher... we will really miss her!

After all the children received their diplomas, Mrs. Reitzel told them they could throw their caps in the air. They all looked around as if to say, "Is she serious?" Then up they went. It was so cute!

Doesn't Jacob look adorable all decked out in cap and gown? I don't even want to think about thirteen years from now, when he graduates high school. I can only imagine, I will probably be a big sobbing mess then! :)

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Tulip Time 2009

Tulip Time has come and gone for another year. The kids enjoyed participating in the parades once again. Jacob rode the preschool float in the Wednesday parade, and Abby and Noah marched in the Thursday parade. The weather turned out to be beautiful both days, despite the chance of rain in the forecast.
Here are some pictures from Wednesday. This is Jacob and Ian (the boy I babysit). They are 2 months apart in age. They have lots of fun together!

Jacob finds a seat on the float...

Jacob spots Mom and Ian along the parade route. See him waving?

Now on to pictures from Thursday. Abby and Noah rode in the wagon to the beginning of the parade route. I didn't want them to be too tired before they even marched!

A couple quick pictures on the way....

I see Noah....

and there's Abby!

One more of Abby marching by her friend Maddie...

That's all I have for now...we didn't get the traditional pictures near the tulips in Centennial Park this year. We were too exhausted after the parade. I'm hoping to get down there in the next few days to get some pictures before all the tulips are dead. :)
Well, I'm heading off to bed! Thanks for reading; have a great week!

Playing with my new toy...

I've been dreaming and saving up money for a long time, and I was finally able to purchase a new camera a couple weeks ago. I got a Canon EOS Rebel XSi... and I'm super excited about it!!
After we bought the camera, Steve and I took the kids to Culver's for dinner. Of course I had to bring the camera in to play around with it. Here's a pic of all the kids, I love how Jacob turned to look at Nate just as I snapped the photo.

The next morning, I was a "mommy helper" at Jacob's preschool, so I figured it would be another prime opportunity for some photos. The kids must have thought I was crazy, following them around with a camera all morning. Here are a few of Jacob...

I've been taking photos like a madwoman lately, so I should have plenty to post for a while. I need to learn all the settings on my camera; I'm still shooting on full auto right now... but I will learn with practice! Next on my wish list is a new lense or two... that will have to wait until Christmas, I think!

Well, it's been a long day! It's Tulip Time here in Holland, and my kids were in the parades yesterday and today. I'm exhausted from all the walking, and I've got a big blister on my foot. Ouch! On the plus side... I got lots of photos!! Ha ha :) I will get them up on the blog soon...

Bye for now!
